A Hand-blocked Chinoiserie Wallpaper Fragment
A hand-blocked chinoiserie wallpaper fragment (possibly French, c. 1765), the fragment is decorated with figures and birds in a landscape setting. At center a fisherman sits next to a standing maiden holding a parasol, beside her a child flies a kite, next to the child is a peacock with its feathers fanned. A crane is perched on a rock across from the fisherman, and a pavilion can be seen in the background. The wall paper is richly colored in tones of green, salmon, blue, and brown. It is housed in a modern black frame.
