A lounge chair (American, 19th century) consisting of red velvet brocade, Berlin-work, and matching hassock. A large foliate and floral design panel of Berlin-work decorates the center of the chair while a smaller piece embellishes the top of the hassock. Heavy multi-colored tasseled fringe and rope lines the upholstered arms, bottom of the chair, and hassock. Additional rope connects to two decorative metal medallions on either end of the headrest.
